Wild cats have always fascinated us humans!
They are beautiful and have a self-confident, majestic appearance, but they are usually extremely shy towards humans - they even prefer to avoid us.
Early on, attempts were made to get the "beautiful wild ones" used to humans. However, this only really worked in exceptional cases; most of the time, things went rather wrong - sometimes the attempt even cost them their lives. But they never gave up.
And in 1963 it finally worked! A new breed of cat was successfully bred - a long-awaited wish of mankind came true: the Bengal cat was created from a cross between the Leopard cat and various domestic cats.
A cat as beautiful as a wild cat, but as gentle and affectionate as a domestic cat. In a way, a "mini leopard" for the home - only much more affectionate and fixated on "their" humans!
This new breed was recognized in 1986.
As Bengals are very friendly and people-oriented, they have gained more and more fans over the years. If you are looking for a cat that is very attached to its human and likes to cuddle and play with him - a Bengal is just right for you!
With its friendly nature, the Bengal is an ideal family cat - even children get along with it, provided they are used to cats and are of an appropriate age to be handled in an animal-friendly way.
Unlike most other cat breeds, Bengals love water!
This can even go so far that they are happy to keep you company in the bath or shower...
They are also great climbers! They will climb anything to keep an eye out from above.
And they are very talkative: they have an incredibly rich vocabulary and love to communicate!
- So there's never a dull moment with a Bengal cat!
